Another wonderful day!

Today was so beautiful. I live in West Palm Beach, FL, so just about every day is gorgeous here. It was so sunny and I was able to be outside a little bit.

CRON is going well. I'm still baffled at how I can be so full all the time when I'm only eating 1200 calories per day. 'Tis mystery to me. I guess it's good that I'm not starving all the time, but it's also a little frustrating because I have trouble even fitting in 1200 calories. If I only ate when I was hungry, I'd be much lower than 1200 calories, but I don't want to take this too fast. 1200 is low enough. I figured out that it's almost 40% CR. Gosh!!! Why am I not hungry? I know I have to be burning more than 1200 calories per day.

Hi Brianna,

A few questions:

What are you doing for protein?

Are you taking healthy fats? Flax oil, olive oil, hazelnuts, almonds?

Are you weighing and measuring everything, or guessing in the cafeteria?

Are you eating out at all aside from that?

Are you monitoring your weight daily to make sure you're not dropping weight too fast?

You know how I'm a terrible mother hen, and I get worried when tall young folks eat very low calorie numbers. Also, it is very important as you are not yet 21 that you not cut calories to the degree that might hurt your brain development. You desperately need good fats for your brain.

Congrats on starting a blog! I look forward to keeping up with you!

I'm not sure what others have said... and April is really really smart about CRON... but I know in Joel Furhman's book "Eat To Live" he says it is safe to lose up to four pounds per week, much more than many other doctors recommend. Also, janet Jackson and Kirstie Alley both ate about 1500 calories per day and they both work out at least an hour per day. So depending on your exercise routine, 1200 might be good. But I also know they say NEVER eat below 1200 per day as part of your regular diet.

I'm getting my protein from beans and vegetables.

I eat a small amount of nuts each day for fats. I try to eat at least a couple Brazil nuts a day for selenium. I haven't been eating any oils, but I do want to add ground flax seed to my diet for the omega 3's.

I don't weigh and measure in the cafeteria, but all I eat there is raw spinach, carrot sticks, fruit and some beans, so that's pretty easy to estimate and I can't be too far off on my estimations. I measure everything at home, so I kind of have an idea of how much certain amounts are.

I'm not eating out.

I don't have a scale at college, so I'm not monitoring my weight every day. I do tend to drop weight really fast and even without doing CR, I can easily lose five pounds in a week simply by eating healthier. Unfortunately, I also gain really easily.

I'm feeling great though. I'm running every day and last night I had so much energy that I couldn't go to bed. I had to stay up and exercise to get some energy out.

Hey Brianna!

Welcome to CR bloggy land.

I'm glad to read about your journey. I share the same concerns as April however. When I see you estimates on your calorie intake it freaks me out a bit. I would concentrate 100% at this point on making your healthy choices consistently no matter what. up your EFA and your healthy oils and protein. Forget your calorie counts for now. I wouldn't even try it without a scale and software..it's not possible to get accurate estimate. I'd rather read your food list then see your counts.

The CRON lifestyle is about good health, longevity and nutrition. The weight loss is a side effect. Your numbers are beautiful and that's a wonderful thing to want to maintain.

Great to see you (nice photo :)

Take care,
:-D
